Financial Analyst - Technology and Operations
Travelers is a leading property casualty insurer with a commitment to innovation and collaboration. The Financial Analyst will prepare, evaluate, and validate financial reports while conducting analyses to support business strategy under manager guidance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, evaluate, and validate less complex financial and operational reports
- With supervision, analyze, interpret, and validate trends and variances in business performance, while interacting with cross functional peers on limited basis
- Synthesize and present exhibits, results, and observations to direct manager and team members
- Under guidance support your financial partners in the preparation of analyses to support business strategy
- Complete and prepare components of external financial statements and including, but not limited to GAAP(Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC and STAT (Statutory Accounting Principles)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- Basic knowledge of Financial Analysis concepts and processes, and accounting practices and principles
- Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail and effectively convey information
- Begin to leverage analytical skills access and gather data, including a basic understanding of what the data represents
- Time management/ prioritization skills and ability to solve problems and make recommendations
- Takes responsibility for decisions and actions
- Ability to identify customers needs and take appropriate actions while working within tight timeframes and deadlines
- Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Financial Reporting Software (e.g., TM1, Essbase, Hyperion, etc.)
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, related degree or equivalent experience
