Civil Engineering / Architecture: Building Plans Reviewer (Project Manager I/II/III)
The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a Building Plans Reviewer to work in the Transportation and Public Works Code Enforcement Division. This role involves performing building plan reviews for compliance with building codes and regulations, providing technical assistance, and preparing reports on project status.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and analyzing blueprint designs, plans, calculations and maps for compliance with codes and regulations
- Identifies discrepancies and provides technical assistant to arrive at acceptable design solutions
- Determines appropriate action for revisions if necessary
- Provides assistance and information to the general public and various agencies
- Prepare reports of work in progress
- Meet with staff or other assigned professionals to discuss project status
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Skills
- College Senior status in a Bachelor's Degree program in Civil Engineering or Architecture. Degree must be from an accredited college or university and conferred on or before agreed upon start date; if these parameters are not satisfied, any contingent offer of employment will be rescinded
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
- Completed Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate from the Missouri Board of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors / Engineering Intern Certificate resulting from passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) Exam and applying with the Missouri Board of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors
- Enrollment in the National Council of Architectural Review Boards (NCARB) Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and two years of practical experience
- International Code Council (ICC) Plans Examiner Certificate (or other approved third-party Certification of Professional Competency based on written examination)
- Registered Professional Engineer or Registered Professional Architect and five years of practical experience
