Why This Role Matters

Mathematics is the foundation of critical thinking, problem‑solving, and future career opportunities. In elementary school, students develop the core skills that will shape their confidence and competence in more advanced topics. As an Elementary Math Tutor with arenaflex, you will be the catalyst that transforms anxiety into curiosity, confusion into clarity, and hesitation into confidence. Your expertise will directly impact the academic trajectory of children in Chattanooga, TN, and surrounding communities such as Signal Mountain and Hixson.

Role Overview – What You’ll Do Every Day

In this position, you will provide personalized, in‑home tutoring sessions focused on elementary mathematics and entry‑level algebra concepts. You will assess each student’s unique learning style, design customized lesson plans, and deliver instruction that aligns with curriculum standards while fostering a love for math.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct one‑on‑one tutoring sessions in the student’s home, covering topics such as basic arithmetic, elementary geometry, pre‑algebra, and homework preparation.
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans that reflect each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning preferences.
  • Provide clear, concise session reports to the arenaflex office and families within 24 hours of each tutoring appointment.
  • Track and balance tutoring hours for each assigned student, ensuring equitable distribution of instructional time.
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor student progress and proactively notify the office when a student’s enrollment package is low on hours, recommending renewal options when appropriate.
  • Employ test‑anxiety reduction strategies and study‑skill techniques to help students perform confidently on assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, and performance metrics using arenaflex’s data‑entry system.
  • Collaborate with fellow arenaflex tutors and administrators to share best practices and continuously improve instructional methods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in an educational setting, such as classroom teaching, private tutoring, or curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience tutoring or teaching elementary‑level mathematics or related subjects.
  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities, including proficiency in data entry and report generation.
  • Reliable transportation with current automobile insurance, as sessions are conducted in students’ homes.
  • Access to a stable internet connection, a computer, and a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, relatable terms.
  • Flexibility to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and developmental levels.
  • Professional demeanor, punctuality, and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of student information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field; graduate degree or teaching credential is a plus.
