About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Aviation Data

arenaflex is a global leader in the aviation industry, connecting millions of passengers to destinations worldwide through innovative technology and a relentless commitment to safety, reliability, and customer delight. Our data‑driven culture fuels every decision, from flight operations to passenger experience, and we are constantly expanding the digital frontier to keep our fleet soaring above the clouds. As part of arenaflex’s growing technology team, you will join a community of forward‑thinking engineers, analysts, and innovators who turn raw data into actionable insights that power the next generation of air travel.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑paced environment, real‑time data pipelines are the lifeblood of modern airlines. arenaflex relies on event‑driven architectures to process flight telemetry, passenger interactions, and operational alerts at scale. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the robust data pipelines that enable rapid decision‑making, predictive maintenance, and personalized customer experiences. Your work will directly influence the efficiency of flight schedules, the safety of our crews, and the satisfaction of travelers around the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Implement Event‑Driven Pipelines: Architect end‑to‑end data flows on AWS using services such as Amazon EventBridge, AWS Lambda, and AWS Step Functions.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with product owners, data scientists, and operations teams to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and ensure data solutions meet performance expectations.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Develop automated data validation, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously profile and tune pipelines for latency, throughput, and cost efficiency, leveraging serverless best practices and auto‑scaling capabilities.
  • Serverless Development: Write clean, maintainable Python code, build Pydantic models for schema enforcement, and create reusable Lambda functions.
  • NoSQL Management: Design, provision, and maintain DynamoDB tables and other NoSQL data stores, ensuring optimal partition keys and access patterns.
  • Streaming Data Processing: Utilize Amazon Kinesis to ingest, transform, and analyze high‑velocity data streams from aircraft sensors, reservation systems, and mobile apps.
  • Stay Current with AWS Innovations: Evaluate emerging AWS services, propose adoption strategies, and lead proof‑of‑concept initiatives.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce comprehensive technical documentation, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers on event‑driven design principles.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience building data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Deep understanding of AWS native event‑driven services (EventBridge, Lambda, Step Functions, Kinesis).
  • Proficiency in Python, including experience with Pydantic or similar data‑validation libraries.
  • Solid grasp of data modeling, data quality frameworks, and data security best practices.
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB, and familiarity with partitioning and indexing strategies.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex data flow issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude toward cross‑functional teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional or AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and automated testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of data streaming platforms beyond Kinesis (e.g., Apache Kafka, AWS MSK).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS) for hybrid workloads.
  • Exposure to machine‑learning pipelines and model deployment workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior team members.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Mastery of serverless architectures, event‑driven design patterns, and cloud‑native data processing.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to dissect complex data problems, propose elegant solutions, and iterate quickly.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in distributed teams, sharing knowledge, and building consensus.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment, embracing new tools and methodologies.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to data integrity, security, and compliance standards.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Understanding how data pipelines impact the end‑user experience and business outcomes.
