Our mission goes beyond building hardware; we strive to create an ecosystem where reliability, quality, and sustainability are woven into every silicon product we ship. Join a company where your expertise will directly influence the next generation of consumer electronics, enterprise solutions, and emerging markets.

Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a seasoned Reliability Engineer Lead – Custom Silicon Management to spearhead reliability and quality initiatives for our custom silicon portfolio. In this role, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including design, validation, manufacturing, and supply chain—to define, execute, and continuously improve reliability strategies that ensure our silicon products meet the highest standards of performance and durability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the Reliability Plan and Test Plan for new silicon designs, covering stress‑test conditions, failure‑mode analysis, and qualification criteria from prototype through high‑volume production.
  • Lead the execution of reliability and stress‑testing programs, including corner‑case temperature, voltage, electrical, and mechanical stress assessments.
  • Coordinate with design engineers to integrate reliability insights early in the silicon architecture, influencing layout, packaging, and material choices.
  • Drive supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring for silicon fab and packaging partners, ensuring compliance with JEDEC, ISO, and internal quality standards.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and oversee the release of silicon to mass production, validating that all reliability targets are met before volume ramp‑up.
  • Analyze field failure data (MRB, RMA, 8D reports) to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering team to monitor process capability (Cpk), yield trends, and capacity metrics, providing data‑driven recommendations for yield enhancement.
  • Lead cross‑functional reviews for PCN (Product Change Notice) and ECN (Engineering Change Notice) processes, ensuring reliability impact is fully assessed and communicated.
  • Mentor junior reliability engineers and foster a culture of rigorous testing, data integrity, and proactive problem solving.
  • Travel to supplier sites, fabs, and customer locations as needed to support qualification activities, audits, and on‑site troubleshooting.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline (BS+3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in silicon reliability engineering, including work with custom ASICs, SoCs, or similar semiconductor products.
  • Deep understanding of JEDEC reliability standards (e.g., JESD47, JESD57), ISO 9001/14001 quality frameworks, and the scientific principles behind failure mechanisms.
  • Proven track record of managing reliability programs from concept through high‑volume production, with measurable improvements in field failure rates.
  • Experience conducting reliability stress tests such as temperature cycling, humidity, electro‑static discharge (ESD), and accelerated life testing.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret statistical data, perform root‑cause analysis, and develop robust corrective action plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and collaborate with global teams, suppliers, and senior leadership.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for supplier audits, on‑site testing, and customer engagements.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience with advanced packaging technologies (e.g., 2.5D/3D stacking, fan‑out wafer‑level packaging).
  • Familiarity with reliability modeling tools such as Weibull analysis, Arrhenius extrapolation, and physics‑of‑failure (PoF) methodologies.
  • Hands‑on experience with failure analysis labs, including SEM, TEM, X‑ray, and acoustic microscopy.
  • Knowledge of supply chain risk management and the ability to drive supplier performance improvements.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or other quality improvement methodologies.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture, anticipate reliability challenges, and develop forward‑looking solutions.
  • Technical Acumen: Deep technical expertise in semiconductor physics, materials, and reliability testing.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Strong quantitative skills to analyze test data, interpret trends, and make evidence‑based recommendations.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and persuasive communication style for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment where priorities shift quickly.
