WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Senior Data Engineer on our Data Platform team, you will apply your deep expertise in technology choices, design patterns, and engineering best practices to build systems that address complex business challenges. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to derive insights, optimize operations, and deliver exceptional value to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Architect and build high-performance data systems and pipelines using modern distributed computing frameworks and best practices for data management, storage, and processing at scale - Analyze source systems, identify critical data sources, define transformation requirements, and design robust data models that support business analytics and reporting needs - Implement efficient development methodologies, coding standards, and quality assurance practices to deliver reliable and maintainable data solutions - Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, communicating technical concepts clearly and resolving project-related challenges professionally - Mentor and peer-review work of team members, sharing expertise to enhance their skills and knowledge of our data systems and development processes - Contribute to technical strategy and roadmapping, evaluating emerging technologies and proposing innovative solutions that improve our data platform capabilities - Ensure operational excellence by implementing monitoring, alerting, and automation practices that maintain system reliability and performance

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

We're looking for a professional with proven experience in data engineering and a passion for building scalable data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a track record of designing and implementing data systems that handle large-scale operations.

Essential Qualifications:

- 3+ years of full-time professional software development experience, with demonstrated proficiency in building robust and efficient applications - 3+ years of full-time experience in system design or engineering, including experience with design patterns, reliability considerations, and scaling strategies for new and existing systems - Strong programming skills in at least one modern programming language (such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go) - Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline development - Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking to address complex data challenges - Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field - Experience with cloud-based data platforms and distributed systems (such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, or cloud data services) - Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and modern analytics architectures - Experience with real-time data processing and streaming data pipelines - Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices - Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and security best practices
