Job Title -AI/ML Engineer 1 / Research/R&D Engineer Job Location - Remote / Austin-TX Team Background
- Hiring team primarily consists of Mechanical Design Engineers.
- This is not a traditional Mechanical Design Engineer role.
- The hiring managers are seeking a Research/R&D Engineer specializing in AI/ML who can deliver AI-assisted engineering solutions.
Preferred Educational Background First Priority
- Mechanical Engineering
Second Priority
- Science or Engineering disciplines such as:
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Electrical Engineering
- Other Engineering fields
Highly Preferred
- Ph.D. degree with research and/or R&D experience.
Note: Degree level is flexible (Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D.) if the candidate possesses strong relevant experience. Technical Requirements AI/ML Expertise Candidates should have experience with:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning (ML)
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Cloud technologies
- AI-assisted software development
Programming & Automation
- Low-level and high-level coding experience.
- Experience writing and debugging scripts using AI tools.
- Ability to automate engineering software workflows.
Engineering Software Exposure Experience with one or more of the following is desirable:
- SolidWorks
- PTC Creo
- Maple
- Cadence Allegro
- Ansys
Research & Development Expectations
- Independently research and solve new engineering problems.
- Develop AI-driven approaches and workflows.
- Create, refine, and feed instructions/prompts into AI systems to automate or improve engineering processes.
- Deliver AI-assisted solutions rather than traditional design engineering work.
Industry/Product Exposure Preferred experience with related technologies/products:
- MI300
- MI400
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience; OR
- Minimum 2+ years of highly relevant AI-focused experience.
There is no upper limit on total years of experience. Soft Skills
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
Work Arrangement
- Remote/Hybrid role.
- Austin, Texas is preferred but not mandatory.
- Candidates may work from anywhere within the United States.
- Employees can work in their local time zone but must attend scheduled meetings.
Travel Requirements
- Some travel to Austin, Texas will be required, particularly during the initial onboarding period.
- Client will cover travel expenses.
