Project Manager, Energy Transition, Asia

Location This position is based remotely in the U.S. or may be hybrid out of one of EDF's U.S. offices. Duration This is a two-year fixed-term position with full benefits. Overall Function The Project Manager, Energy Transition, Asia plays a critical role in supporting the development, execution, and communication of Energy Transition’s methane policy advocacy projects, advancing EDF’s strategy to reduce methane emissions and accelerate clean energy transition across Asia. This includes supporting policy advocacy, fostering regional partnerships, and enabling data-driven solutions. Key responsibilities include developing and managing project work plans, timelines, and deliverables; tracking donor deliverables; drafting talking points, power points and project progress reports; preparing event briefings; conducting analyses and facilitating collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders. This position interacts with team members and partners across different time zones and countries, requiring cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams. The Project Manager applies independent judgment to solve moderately complex problems and recommend solutions and demonstrates excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. This role requires a solid understanding of methane and energy transition topics, keen attention to detail, and adaptability to shifting priorities. The Project Manager, Energy Transition, Asia, reports to the Senior Director, Energy Transition.

Key Responsibilities

Provide overall support to the Energy Transition-Asia senior-level staff in program management and implementation, focusing on EDF’s advocacy in East Asia and related regional collaboration. Support the development and execution of policy and advocacy strategies, ensuring workstreams are aligned with EDF’s Asia and global energy transition goals. Conduct targeted research on Asia energy policies, regulatory developments, geopolitics, and industry trends, and prepare briefings, talking points, and analyses for leadership and team reference. Manage day‑to‑day coordination of key policy and advocacy projects, ensuring deadlines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations are met. Participate in advancing EDF Organizational Effectiveness and Culture (OEC) goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values. Establish and maintain organized document management system to facilitate effective communication and information flow across the APAC team and global colleagues, ensuring synergistic collaboration and implementation. Coordinate with Energy Transition Finance and Ops teams to track project budgets, ensuring alignment between financial and programmatic reporting and timely submission of program updates. Support preparation of contracts and grant agreements for consultants and partners, including drafting of work scope, tracking and reviewing deliverables to ensure compliance with scope, timelines and quality standards. Coordinate and assist in event planning and execution, including concept development, budgeting, vendor coordination, invites, scheduling, logistics, communication and marketing support, and /or onsite management. Lead collaboration, accountability, and delivery of project outcomes with ternal partners and stakeholders across teams. Additional relevant responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications 4+ years of program or related experience and a Bachelor’s degree required. A Master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of experience. Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds. A broad understanding of environmental advocacy, energy policy, and knowledge of Asian cultures is required. Experience in project management required, including managing project lifecycles, workplans, timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Teams, SharePoint) strongly preferred. Proactive, attentive to detail, and highly organized. Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects, problem solve, and work effectively in matrixed teams. An ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of small teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and with colleagues spread across multiple time zones. Strong analytical skills and experience performing rigorous analysis in support of highly visible work. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience. Willingness to work outside of normal work hours as needed. Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required. Knowledge of a major Asian language is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel). Strong skills in creating presentations, reports, and visual materials are preferred. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (around 5% -10% annually), based on project needs.
