Why This Role Matters
Retail generates petabytes of data every day—from transaction logs and inventory movements to customer behavior signals. As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Ventures team, you will be at the heart of this ecosystem, designing and maintaining the data foundations that power real‑time decision‑making, predictive analytics, and next‑generation shopper experiences. Your work will directly influence how merchants serve customers, how supply chains respond to demand, and how arenaflex stays ahead of industry disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Data Ingestion & Transformation
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest high‑volume streams from diverse sources (POS systems, e‑commerce platforms, IoT devices, etc.).
- Implement scalable ETL/ELT processes using Apache Spark, PySpark, and Python to transform raw data into clean, curated datasets ready for analytics.
- Leverage cloud‑native services (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or AWS) to orchestrate workflows with tools such as Airflow, Cloud Composer, or Automic.
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Develop logical and physical data models (star, snowflake, and data vault) that support both operational reporting and advanced analytics.
- Collaborate with data architects to design data lake and warehouse solutions (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift) that balance performance, cost, and security.
- Maintain metadata catalogs and data lineage documentation to ensure traceability and compliance.
Performance Optimization & Reliability
- Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and implement automated alerts using Prometheus, Grafana, or Cloud Monitoring.
- Apply best practices for data partitioning, indexing, and caching to achieve sub‑second query latency for critical dashboards.
- Conduct regular capacity planning and cost‑optimization reviews in collaboration with finance and cloud operations teams.
Collaboration & Business Insight
