Our mission is to inspire, entertain, and connect audiences worldwide through innovative technology and storytelling. As we continue to expand our data‑driven capabilities, we are looking for visionary data professionals who thrive in fast‑paced, collaborative environments.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be a pivotal member of the Promotion Stages group—a team responsible for building the data infrastructure that powers our industry‑leading streaming business. Your work will directly influence how content is discovered, recommended, and delivered to users across all arenaflex platforms. By designing robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross‑functional partners, you will help shape the future of entertainment and enable data‑driven decision making at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Design & Development: Architect, build, and maintain high‑performance ETL pipelines that ingest, transform, and load data from internal and external sources into our data warehouse.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with product, analytics, and engineering teams to gather data requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and deliver reliable data solutions.
  • Schema Modeling: Design logical and physical database schemas that support complex analytical workloads while ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Implement automated data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee the integrity and accuracy of critical data assets.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct SQL and ETL tuning, optimize query performance, and fine‑tune data pipelines to meet stringent SLAs.
  • Technology Evaluation & Adoption: Evaluate emerging data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, Airflow) and recommend best‑in‑class solutions that align with arenaflex’s strategic roadmap.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear documentation, data dictionaries, and runbooks; mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Ad‑hoc Analysis & Research: Perform investigative data analysis to support product experiments, A/B testing, and strategic initiatives.
  • Agile Delivery: Participate in Scrum ceremonies, contribute to sprint planning, and deliver incremental value in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing data warehouse solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling, normalization, and data standardization.
  • Expertise with SQL engines (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake) and proven ability to perform advanced query optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, NiFi, or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language for data engineering (e.g., Python, PySpark) and a solid grasp of software development best practices.
  • Excellent analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data workloads.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing and monitoring data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, Deequ).
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery.
  • Background in building data pipelines on distributed processing engines like Databricks, EMR, or Spark.
  • Knowledge of streaming data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and real‑time analytics.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards in a media or entertainment context.
  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Deep expertise in relational databases, data warehousing, and ETL orchestration.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot data anomalies, and devise innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working cross‑functionally with product managers, data scientists, and software engineers.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable thriving in a rapidly evolving environment where priorities shift and new technologies emerge.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to delivering high‑quality, reliable data pipelines that meet rigorous standards.
  • Leadership: Mentor junior team members, champion best practices, and contribute to the overall technical direction of the data platform.

  • Mentorship from industry veterans and senior architects.
  • Sponsored certifications (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Google Cloud) and attendance at leading data conferences.
  • Opportunities to lead high‑impact projects that directly influence product strategy and user experience.
  • Cross‑team rotations to broaden your expertise across analytics, machine learning, and product engineering.
  • A clear career ladder that can lead to roles such as Data Architecture Lead, Platform Engineering Manager, or Director of Data Engineering.
